I’ve been eating cai png for the past three years. Monday to Sunday, lunch and dinner, day in, day out. In fact, it got to a point where I would eat cai png everywhere I go, be it with my friends, my family or even a date.
Granted, it might have gotten a tad bit awkward at times, like the instant whereby I had asked a befuddled waiter for cai png when I went to Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen at MBS. But I toughed it out. My date dumped me promptly after that, but I didn’t care. No woman’s hotter than cai png, especially one with extra curry ladled at the top.
Yet, despite all my valiant cai png exploits, I’ve never quite managed to get over one thing.
The perfect cai png portion.
Now, I’m sure you’re more than aware of this: the portions suck.
No thanks to the cheap, plastic container they offer for a damn $0.20.
So I switched it up, by bringing my own plastic container.
Big, spacious and unnecessarily big, this container’s what I needed all along for that perfect portion.
Yet alas, the seller didn’t fall for it. In fact he actually dished out less than usual. I know this because I measured the portion alongside a regular packet, mm by mm.
Anyways, I was devastated.
And I was just about to ready to give up cai png and head to Tibet and become a monk.
Until I saw this.
What’s this sorcery? Every portion looks immaculately dished; none looks out of place.
There’s no doubt about it; it’s the perfect cai png!
And if you take a closer look, the container’s none other than the one for kuih raya! Except that instead of tasty, sugary snacks, you get reasonably healthy fare!
Why did it take so long for someone to figure this perfect hack out?!
The perfect hack
On 11 Jan, a local blogger by the name of Arlina Banana (known as Arlina Avocado on Twitter) shared her ingenious method, a ‘kuih raya’ container, to get good portions of her fave dishes.
She first started out with an Instagram photo as a “throwback” post to before she commenced her diet.
Amused that her post was received so warmly, she posted it to her Twitter page as well.
Impressed
Netizens were generally impressed, and lauded her for her creativity.
Some also asked her for the identity of the included dishes, to which she responded by updating her photo.
That’s a winner, everybodeh!
So what are you waiting for?
Buy a ‘kuih raya’ container, swallow all the stuff, wash it, stick a sticker saying ‘FOR CAI PNG’ onto it and wave it in your local cai png seller’s face!
It’s time to get those perfect portions day in, day out!
