This might come as a surprise to you if you’ve not been keeping tabs on all the sensationalised news about the couple.
But if you’ve been a busybody like me, or a fan of Song Joongki and Song Hye-kyo even after their popularity has faded off after Descendants of the Sun, then this probably is something that’s expected.
The beautiful couple met in 2015 during the set of Descendants of the Sun, and kept their relationship private until 5 July 2017, when they suddenly announced publicly that they were engaged.

They continued to keep their relationship private, getting married in a private ceremony in October the same year and refusing to take any sponsors (not that they need them, anyways).
Since then, no one knew much about their marriage until February this year.
Wedding Rings Disappeared from Song Hye-kyo
In February 2019, reporters spotted that Song Hye-kyo wasn’t wearing her wedding ring; that sparked rumours that the couple was separated, but fans shot down the reports, claiming that that couldn’t prove that they were divorced.
More reports then surfaced in April this year, when another set of images taken by paparazzi showed Song Hye-kyo without her ring.
As usual, fans were fuming, claiming that those reports were fake news.
However, in public events, Song Joongki was spotted wearing his ring.
In fact, we were all led to believe that those rumours were mere…rumours for more clicks. In an interview about his marriage a month ago, Song Joongki said, “Nothing changed too drastically, but I do feel like I’ve become more emotionally stable as a result. I feel like all married people would understand this feeling.”
Then came today.

It’s Official: The Perfect Couple is Getting Divorced
In a move that no one saw it coming, Song Joongki’s lawyer, Park Jae Hyun, suddenly confirmed a news that would break many fans’ heart.
It’s official: Song Joongki has begun to file for divorce from Song Hye-kyo.
So far, Song Hye-kyo hasn’t responded to this.
