A shower is the one place most people like to soap up and think.
Am I doing the right thing in life, or should I change my career? Did I turn the stove off before coming here? Why did my ex break up with me like that leh – I really liked her.
The fact is, though, we all tend to lose track of time when we’re using the shower. It’s a place of standing meditation for some – the water just does that to you.
But at the same time, water is just probably being excessively used for nothing more than trickling down your body.
And let’s just say that water isn’t cheap, considering that its price has just been hiked up.
Well, the new BTO projects will come with a solution to this. One that will actually show you an indication of whether you’ve been in the shower for too long or just the right amount of time.
Here, read the next paragraph and you’ll understand how.
Introducing the Hydrao Showers
The Hydrao showers are damn smart ones lei.
Unlike your usual one-coloured shower head, this shower device (sounds so high tech huh) will change its colour based on how much of water you’ve used during your bathing period.
The showers are sold by a French company called Smart and Blue. They have a series of colour codes which will change as you continue using water from the shower.
First it turns green, then blue, after that purple, and then red, and if you don’t finish your shower by the time its hit red, it’ll give you the final sign – flashing red.
Its purpose is, of course, to help people not waste water while showering (i.e. don’t daydream or sing six Jay Chou songs).
Another company is also supplying smart showers to the BTO projects, and this is under Amphiro. This company’s shower’s might not have the lighting features of the other company, but it gives you REAL TIME info on the amount of water you’ve used through its panel display on the smart shower.
Both companies’ proposals have shown that they have the feature to let its users monitor their water consumption and even select their respective water-saving milestones.
Here’s an interesting fact – according to a study by NUS, each person can save right up to 5 litres of water every day just by using a smart shower.
The BTO Smart Shower Plan Details
A grand total of 10,000 Build-To-Order (BTO) flats will be fixed with the smart showers starting early 2018, and the entire project is expected to filter into the year 2019, too.
Both Smart and Blue and Amphiro are expected to deliver up to 10,000 units of smart showers each. As at now, the details on which BTO flats will contain these water-saving indicator babies are not finalized yet.
Well, the plan is certainly a smart (pun intended) one which will hopefully inculcate change in citizens to being more water-conscious, and will certainly bring us closer to the country’s water conservation targets.
