Prosecutors said the act caused sexual humiliation. The woman was charged with committing an indecent act by compulsion.
The court noted that the woman had no prior criminal record. She expressed remorse and apologised while kneeling before the victim and his parents.
The judge dismissed her claim that she intended it as a joke.
Other Pantsing Cases in South Korea Have Drawn Public Attention
Pantsing has previously led to serious consequences in South Korea. Although the act is sometimes seen in entertainment programmes, authorities have taken disciplinary and legal action in real-life cases.
In 2019, Olympic short track speed skater Lim Hyo-jun was suspended for one year after pulling down a male teammate’s trousers in front of female athletes.
In 2021, a group of elementary school students in North Jeolla Province were investigated by police after allegedly pulling down a younger boy’s pants at a playground. The victim’s mother reported the incident.
