The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to the Animals (SPCA) has been around for a very long time. In fact, it has been in existence since back in the 1800s, when photos were still black and white.

Since then, it has come a very long way, especially considering the fact that it is not easy to sustain any business, much less a non-profit organisation.
This is why they need all the help they can get to carry out their goals of saving the strays in Singapore.

And lest you’re unaware, they do not receive any funding from the government and wholly rely on public donations and fundraising by selling merchandise.
So how much exactly do they need?
SPCA Urges Public To Donate; Reveals That $600k Is Needed Yearly To Save Strays
$600k!?
SPCA revealed in a Facebook post dated 15 December that they need a whopping $600,000 per year, (yes that’s 5 zeros, not 4 or 3) to fund their operations.
In a day, they see around 20 abandoned or abused animals.
SPCA urges the public to donate to their cause during this festive season, which will help with funding their clinic and shelter supplies.
You can make a donation here.
Their post says:

“This Christmas, help over 200 needy animals a month by funding their clinic and shelter supplies.
SPCA’s Community Animal Clinic requires ~$600,000 per year to operate and our team sees over 20 animals daily.
We are not government-funded and rely on public donations that are eligible for 250% tax deduction.”
Christmas Wish List
They have even included a ‘Christmas Wish List’ with the prices they will need to fork out for anything from Cat Litter to clinic supplies and their respective prices, to give you a gauge on what you would like to donate.
I’m quite impressed by their transparency and I think this is a really good initiative. As a member of the public, we might not know exactly where our donations are being directed to.

Let’s all play a part and donate even the littlest amount.
