If you’re a Gen Z or even a millennial who spends a lot of time on TikTok, you’re likely familiar with the Singapore Police Force’s (SPF) TikTok account.

Since 2024, SPF’s TikTok presence has been booming, with officers participating in dance trends and showcasing their personalities through informational videos.

SPF has gained a reputation for its viral videos, and its latest trend is no exception.

SPF and HKPF Collaborate for Chinese New Year Video

With Chinese New Year celebrations taking place last week, SPF took over the internet with a festive video featuring the classic CNY song Gong Xi Gong Xi.

The TikTok opens with dynamic camera movements featuring SPF officers playing various instruments and performing a lion dance, followed by dramatic shots of officers continuing to play their instruments.

A male police officer then takes the spotlight, singing the first half of the song before transitioning to a female officer, who shifts from wearing her police uniform to a traditional cheongsam.

However, what truly took the internet by surprise was the unexpected collaboration with the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF).

Halfway through the video, a female officer from HKPF appears, dressed in her uniform, continuing the song in front of the HKPF office.

SPF’s Unique TikTok Approach

This isn’t the first time SPF has gained attention for its TikTok videos.

Although the SPF is a serious force responsible for keeping Singapore safe, its TikTok content takes a different approach, appealing to Gen Z and millennials with lighthearted and engaging videos.

One of their previous viral videos featured officers dancing to the popular APT trend, set to Bruno Mars and ROSÉ’s music.

Another humorous video showcased a creative way to remind pedestrians to avoid using their mobile phones while walking or crossing roads.

The clip featured an officer playfully impersonating Bruno Mars, only to be interrupted by another officer telling him to “Stop”, a clever nod to the lyrics of Uptown Funk.

A user commented, “Why does it feel like the police are more fun on social media than in real life?”

To which another user replied, “Why would you want a fun police force in real life when they’re preventing and solving crimes?”
