Can you imagine having your explicit videos or pictures stolen or shared online without your consent?
Sadly, this is a living nightmare that many women in Singapore are going through.
Ever since SG Nasi Lemak emerged and ruined the good name of nasi lemak forever, more and more revolting Telegram chat groups which distribute explicit material of women without their consent have popped up.
Now, another such Telegram group has caught public attention, along with a few Tumblr pages.
Telegram Group & Tumblr Pages Found Distributing Explicit Photos & Videos of Women
A Telegram group with over 4,800 members and several Tumblr pages have been found disseminating explicit photos and videos of women without their consent.
According to Mothership, the Telegram group was started on 25 June last year.
Since then, more than 12,000 photos and 3,000 videos have been shared. The material shows women in various states of undress or engaging in sexual acts.
Most of the material appears to have been shot without the consent of the woman.
Worse, some of the sexual acts depicted in the video seem as if they were not consensual.
Some members even post pictures of fully-dressed women and even have the audacity make a request for their nude photos or videos.
Members would exchange messages like “/xmmgrp”, “/SGvoyeur”, “/sgincest”, and “/unlock_bedok_85_level3_staircase”.
Several Tumblr pages are also sharing explicit material of woman without their consent, with one even selling nude photos of influencers.
Telegram Group Still Accessible
While the Telegram group does not appear to be accessible on the phone, users can still access it on its desktop app.
When one woman complained about the group online, one member in the group wrote: “Why some people so salty. Leave us alone.”
The members have even warned each other to “be careful”, after what happened with the SG Nasi Lemak Telegram group previously.
SPF Investigating Matter
The police confirmed that several police reports have since been lodged, and that they are currently investigating the matter.
What the Telegram group members probably don’t know, is that you can be jailed for up to three months if you circulate obscene materials.
And if you do so without the consent of those in the disseminated pictures and videos, don’t expect the judge to go easy on you.
