I often hear people say:
“If only superheroes exist in real life… it would be so cool!”
And almost immediately I will roll my eyes. Not because superheroes are lame or anything, but because they fail to realise one thing.
Superheroes already exist in real life.
And in case you’re wondering, I’m talking about those without capes: policemen, firefighters, doctors, Goody Feed writers…
Aren’t they all doing a superhero’s job every single day?
“But they don’t have superpowers,” you argue. “That’s what makes them cool!”
To that, I say screw you, because let’s face it;
Would you ever find Thor buying a toy for a lost child… like this policeman just did?
What happened?
According to Mothership, it all started with the GOAT of all social media platforms.
Facebook.
On 16 Jan, a certain Siti Shahira published a post on Facebook, reporting that her child, Danish Farazqi bin Md Fazlee, had gone missing. The news soon got pretty viral, making its way around Internet town and accumulating over 1,000 shares in the process.
Later on, the Singapore Police Force would get involved, putting up an appeal for information on the whereabouts of the 7-year-old boy.
According to Danish’s grandmother, the young boy (who has autism) had apparently gone missing while his mother was sending his two other siblings to school.
He was believed to have been last seen wearing a white and orange shirt, matched with orange shorts at Blk 61 Geylang Bahru at approximately 10:00 a.m. on 16 Jan 2019.
Found
Three hours after the appeal went live, Danish was discovered at nex (yeah that super big mall) by patrolling officers from Serangoon Neighbourhood Police Center.
Apparently, the child had taken several buses before arriving at his destination.
But here’s the thing; the police didn’t just find little Danish over here and escort him back pronto. Instead, they went beyond their line of duty, and purchased a toy for him.
Now I might not know a lot of stuff, but one thing I do know is that these police people are wicked cool.
As it is, Siti’s very thankful towards the police for their help.
Kudos, SPF!
And Netizens agree
After the good news was revealed. citizens of the web came together to celebrate this happy, happy occasion.
And it seems that this isn’t just a one-off dedicated gesture by the officer too.
Though one Netizen did point out something…
Which means that cool and dedicated as he is, I’ll probably not want to tag along with him during my Reservist period.
But on an ending note, I am genuinely happy that things worked out in the end. And once again…
I salute you, the men in blue.
