One of the cool things about being a superhero is the air of mystery it gives you.
You disappear from social events, dates, and even school for reasons no one knows, all to secretly save the world from destruction.
Remaining anonymous also has the functional purpose of preventing your enemies from finding out personal details about you and your loved ones.
Unfortunately for Peter Parker, everyone now knows who Spider-Man really is.
New Spider-Man Trailer Dropped Today
In just five hours, one particular video on YouTube has garnered over 13 million views.
No, it wasn’t a Billie Eilish song, but the official trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home.
For months, fans have been clamouring for a taste of what the third instalment in the series has to offer, with some version of a trailer leaking earlier this weekend.
Well, the official version is finally out, and Marvels fans now have what they want. So, what can we look forward to?
Spider-Man’s Identity Revealed, Teams Up With Doctor Strange
The trailer largely shows how Parker, played by Tom Holland, reacts to having the world know he’s the man inside that famous red and blue suit, swinging from building to building.
School isn’t what it used to be, as Parker has become a celebrity overnight.
The teenager is also being investigated for killing Mysterio, his nemesis, though he denies it.
Desperate, Parker enlists the help of his Marvel compatriot Doctor Strange and persuades him to cast a mysterious spell that will help the world forget Spider-Man’s true identity.
But this appears to cause more problems than it solves, because, as Dr Strange says, Parker is trying to lead two different lives.
Today, Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes’ Erik Davis published the official synopsis for “Spider-Man: No Way Home” on Twitter, showing that its plot is centred around the revelation of Spider-Man’s identity:
“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighbourhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be a Spider-Man.”
Slated to Hit Theatres in December
The ‘threequel’ is scheduled to hit movie theatres in December, with a release date of 17 Dec for those in the US.
The Spider-Man franchise is one of the most lucrative in box office history, with the last two instalments raking in nearly US$2 billion combined.
2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming earned $880 million worldwide, while 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home made $1.1 billion.
Okay, enough talk. Here’s the trailer:
