Every Singaporean would’ve known Haw Par Villa.
That’s the only place in Singapore that’s spooky all-around-the-year, not just Halloween.
And little wonder when you have things like these:
The Stuff Of Nightmares
Originally built as a home by the Tiger Balm tycoon (Mr Iron Man), along with his brother, Aw Boon Par, they began to envision it as a place where Chinese culture is to be remembered.
And it became one of the world’s oldest Asian cultural park, known for its artistic display of the 10 courts of hell.
‘Ah boy ah, this is what happens if you cheat in your exam.’
Spooky.
But Now, It’s About To Get Spookier
So previously, the opening hours for Haw Par Villa was until 7 pm. So even if you’ve passed through the ‘tunnel of hell’ (yes, us 90s kids call it that), the sunlight after will calm your charming heart down.
But according to Straits Times, the park has extended its opening hours till 10 pm.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you can now explore the hellish features of hell in the night.
Eep.
There’ll Be A Guided Tour
Don’t feel like exploring Haw Par Villa at night without a veteran? Don’t worry, I get you.
Every Friday from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm, there’ll be a weekly tour you can join. And the best part? It includes a preview of the Hell’s Museum, an upcoming attraction in Haw Par Villa.
P/S: if that sounds familiar, that’s because they held a one-off Twilight tour last year.
My guess is it’s so awesome they just had to make it a regular thing.

And Regular Events Too
On the launch day of its extended hours, 8 June, Haw Par Villa had music performances, food vendors and a spooky escape game to kick things off.
Now, if you’re feeling sad about missing such an awesome event, don’t worry. They’re working with organisers to arrange events at the park starting from July.
Visit, Please.
The reason behind Haw Par Villa’s latest move? They need to increase visitorship to the park.
Pretty soon for a park that just reopened in March this year but, hey, at least they’re doing something about it.
And you got to admit, a spooky park that doesn’t open past 7 pm?
