You can’t get everything you want just because you feel you do.
Though I’m sure as kids, some of us are guilty of throwing tantrums when we couldn’t get something we wanted.
Sorry, mom.
So I’d just like to assume if you’re a grown adult then there would be more self-control.
But nope.
As we are about to find out, some people do not and might take it a little too far.
Assaulted Over Sex
Because sex is a two-way street, you can’t just demand it from someone.
But that’s definitely not what Clarence Teo Shun Jie, 35, thought.
A stand-in-doctor at a clinic, he allegedly assaulted his then-girlfriend Rachel Lim En Hui, 27, at his Redhill flat between 2am and 4.12am on 27 August 2017.
They had met each other through Coffee Meets Bagel, a dating app, and subsequently began dating around February 2017.
Unfortunately, first dates aren’t always good reflections of someone’s personality.
This was evidenced on 12 March that year where Teo punched Ms Lim after bringing up her past relationships.
She should’ve dipped immediately after, honestly.
Ms Lim forgave him the next day when he apologised but he then hit her again on 30 March 2017.
I’m almost shocked that they were still together all the way until the aforementioned August incident.
They returned to Teo’s home late after a night out. When Ms Lim refused sex with him, Teo got violent.
Like, punching her face, locking her up and slamming her against the wall kind of violent.
She even suffered multiple facial fractures from it!
Deputy Public Prosecutor April Phang noted that Teo’s father alerted the police at 4.12 am.
And what a relief that he did.
Aftermath
Let’s start off with an obvious one: Ms Lim and Teo are no longer together. A lot later than she should’ve allowed but better than never.
Ms Lim was also taken to Singapore General Hospital, where she was warded for 21 days.
As for Teo, he’s currently out on bail for S$15,000 and his trial continues today.
Small irony because doctors are supposed to save people, but I guess he couldn’t save himself from his violent tantrums.
Or controlling the urge in his pants for that matter.
On a more serious note though, if you know anybody in a toxic relationship, please encourage them to leave it.
It isn’t worth anyone’s mental or physical health to try and make it ‘work out’.
