I‘m sure you’ve heard of fare dodgers. Dodgy in nature, these whippersnappers hail cabs, hop in and exit, all without paying a single cent (a notion that commonly happens without the driver’s consent).

But if you’re under the impression that they’re the worst… well you’re probably right. Nevertheless, there’s an evolved breed that though arguably less ill-intentioned, contribute just the same amount of hassle to these poor cabbies. Not sure whether you’re aware of, but we know these ‘criminals’ as…

The drunk fare dodgers.

Yeah, drunk fare dodgers can be a real handful. And as this particular cabby came to find out…

They talk quite a lot of ‘stuff’ too.

What happened?

On 13 Jan, a video (in which a taxi driver tried, and failed, to get his passenger to cough up the cab fare) was uploaded to several media outlets.

For those wondering, the incident had transpired at Bedok North. Although from the looks of it, the driver doesn’t seem to have recovered his cab fare despite running up like 8 flights of stairs.

poor dude.

Funny Yet Weird

Is the guy really drunk? Or is he merely trying to siam the fare? So basically, after a series of weird and incoherent actions by the passenger, he just ran off.

You can watch the video to determine yourself (it is really funny AF in the beginning):

And it’s not the first time, lest you’re wondering

Back in Dec 2015, a Portuguese beautician attacked a taxi uncle and reprimanded him using profane language.

She was sentenced to two weeks’ jail.

And then in June 2016, a drunk cab passenger actually grabbed a taxi driver by his neck and punched him in the face, after being stopped for not paying his fare. He was eventually sentenced to four weeks’ jail time and a $2,000 fine.

So if there’s any lesson to be learnt here, it’s that getting drunk and playing punk on your taxi driver isn’t exactly the best course of action to take. But then again…

That’s provided you’re still sober enough to process that piece of logic.
