Guess what? One Singaporean has managed to get the dream job that most, if not all, 90’s kids wanted – to be a Pokemon master.
The World’s First Pokemon Master
She’s Ivy Lim, and she is Singapore’s very first Pokemon Master.
A freelance model and dee-jay, she beat more than 5,000 applicants from around the world to the job.
When Funzing first placed the job opening ad, they received more than 1,000 applicants on the first day from around the world.
Her Job Scope
As Funzing’s very own Pokemon master, she will be paid $1,000 a month to travel around the world and challenge organise Pokemon events for the company and teach people how to play the game in these events for three months.
The number of events she has to organise? One a week.
So, why her?
This is probably the question of the day. Why her?
According to Yahoo Singapore, Ivy holds a level 23 account and has since caught 121 Pokemon.
“I didn’t know that the job of Pokemon Master exists. I have always wanted to train alongside with friends to catch Pokemon in real life, just like in the Pokemon shows,” Lim said.
According to Gabriel Nimrod, Country Head of Funzing Singapore, Ivy loves Pokemon and play the game a lot.
She has been all over Singapore to catch her Pokemon, from Marina Bay Sands to the heartlands.
“She is a big fan of Pokemon Go and plays the game a lot. Moreover, she has good ideas about organising Pokemon Go events. Funzing Singapore will discuss with Ivy to finalise the events.” – Gabriel Nimrod, Country Head of Funzing Singapore
Pokemon Events
Funzing said that the details of their first Pokemon event will be released online in early September so if you’re excited about joining an event where all Pokemon lovers will be at like the Pokemon mass walk, stay tune.
In the meanwhile, here’s a video to tide you over the agonising wait.
But Don’t Lose Hope Yet.
If you’ve applied for the position and you’re disappointed at not getting the position, then you’ll want to know this.
Eran Alon, co-founder and CEO of Funzing said that they are open to hiring more Pokemon GO masters if the Pokemon GO events are received well.
Who knows, Singapore might have its very own elite four as well.
