A Singaporean has taken to the internet to share their grievances regarding valuables they have lost while staying in a Bali Villa.
According to Singapore Uncensored, it wasn’t just any normal sneaky burglary.
Tune in and you’ll know exactly why, but first, let me explain what happened from the beginning.
S’poreans In Bali Gets Valuables Stolen From Hotel’s Safety Deposit Box; Warn Others
They were on holiday at a two-bedroom villa in Bali at a hotel called Bali Aroma Exclusive Villas from 3 November to 5 November. Sounds nice, doesn’t it? Sounds like it’ll smell nice too.
Wrong.
What was supposed to be a carefree, relaxing holiday in Bali quickly turned into a full-blown nightmare.
On Monday evening, the Singaporeans left for dinner at around 8pm and came back at 12am to find that their valuables had been stolen.
They lost money and “valuables with extremely high sentimental value” such as wedding and engagement rings.
They immediately informed the front desk who found that there were evidence of a break-in in the form of:
- Safety Deposit Box was forced open
- Damaged window lock although the window was hidden by curtains
- bathroom doors unlocked
- sliding doors aren’t working properly
Steps Were Taken To Ensure Valuables Were Kept Safe
They also expressed exasperation and disbelief that even though they had taken measures to secure their belongings, they still got stolen.
For instance:
- They kept their valuables locked in the safety deposit box in the room
- Made sure to lock all the doors before leaving the villa
- Locked their luggages
Thus, they allege that the burglar must have “came with intent” and known where they were and their way around to pull off the theft.
Allege That Burglars Came With Intent
How so?
Well, according to them, they had time to erase their actions by making sure the remaining items were in its original place.
They also had time to break the luggage lock and go through items that were kept in pouches. As a result, they found her jewellery box that was kept in a pouch.
They then put the damaged lock back to make it seem like the luggage had not been opened.
They speculate that perhaps the thieves were hoping that the guests would come home drunk from a night of partying.
Hence, they might not notice the items missing until the next day wherein they would not make a police report if they had to rush for their flight.
They made this guess because their flight home was on Tuesday, the day after the incident happened.
Hotel Staff Claim It’s The First Break-in Case In Their 10 Years Of Operation
Of course, the hotel staff kept reassuring them of their safety protocol. A police report has since been made and CCTV footage has been checked.
Currently, Bali Aroma is cooperating with the police regarding the incident.
To give them credit, the Bali Aroma Duty Manager accompanied the Singaporean to the police station to make the report and even stayed throughout.
To date, there has been no update on the “service recovery plan” and how they are to ensure the safety of future guests’ belongings.
She also wishes the guests who are staying there “all the best”.
It sounds like they don’t believe that they will retrieve their items back.
