Not too long ago, I would’ve imagined that you’d have to travel all the way to Bali or somewhere foresty to truly enjoy a nature retreat.
Sure, you can get a good dose of that vitamin D while being immersed in nature at places like Botanic Gardens.
But to be immersed in an actual ‘rainforest’?
Nature lovers, you’re in for a treat.
S’pore’s Upcoming Nature ‘District’ In Mandai Has Eco-Resort, 5-in-1 Attractions & More
Say sayonara to Jurong Bird Park and hello to a spanking new Bird Park and Rainforest Park which will open as early as 2020.
Wait, isn’t that this year?
You can look forward to a 5-in-1 precinct comprising of Mandai Zoo, Night Safari, River Safari, the Bird Park and Rainforest Park.
Rainforest Park With Wildlife Care & Rehab Centre
Whenever I think of wildlife, my mind instantly thinks of the Irwins.
Maybe our wildlife will never be at that level, but hey, we’re trying and this Rainforest Park is certainly a good place to start.
According to MSNews, the Rainforest Park is touted as a “multi-generational living park” that’s inspired by a tropical rainforest.
You can expect:
- Interactive exhibits that educate you about Singapore’s conservation efforts for flora and fauna in the region.
- A wildlife care centre for injured animals.
- Wild animals found by the public will be treated by staff and volunteers at the new facility.
- The South end of the Rainforest Park will be connected via an East Arrival Node which will bring guests to the entrance of Mandai Zoo.
Banyan Tree Eco-resorts Opening In 2023
Eco-tourism has always been something that I thought we would have to travel to far-flung lands for.
But that will be a thing of the past when Banyan Tree eco-resorts open in 2023.
This beautiful eco-resort is targeted at tourists who would like to have a comfortable stay whilst still being surrounded by lush greenery.
Plus, they will also be able to venture to the nearby parks at leisure.
There’s no doubt that this eco-resort will give them and Singaporeans alike an immersive nature retreat, and by Banyan Tree no less.
A Spanking New Bird Park With 9 Walk-In Aviaries
Let’s face it. Think of wildlife parks in Singapore and your first thought will probably be Singapore Zoo.
But once Jurong Bird Parks moves to Mandai and 5,000 birdies from hundreds of different species flocks over, the Bird Park will be the talk of the town.
It kinda looks like a scene from Jurassic Park.
You can look forward to:
- 9 themed walk-in aviaries
- Conservation sanctuaries for endangered birds
- Free-flying tropical birds
- Waterside trail with roaming flamingos
But wait, there’s more.
Free Public Boardwalk & Nature Trails
If you’re sick of your neighbourhood parks and trails, then get a load of this.
A boardwalk offering gorgeous views of Night Safari, The Zoo & River Safari will be open to the public soon.
The best part? You won’t have to buy a ticket.
Look forward to:
- Planned nature trails
- Heritage trails, playgrounds
- Boardwalks around the Mandai Reservoir
I can’t wait.
