So, this morning, when the boss wasn’t around, we alt-tab our laptops immediately and started a conversation among ourselves, because it just doesn’t make sense to work when the boss is out.

“Everyone here in the office has watched 比悲伤更悲伤的故事,” I said. “Even Bufflord95, who looks so manly with his oversize biceps but allegedly cried like a little girl while watching it.”

“I was having the damn flu!” Bufflord95 said, flexing his muscles once again.

“But it’s just weird that no one’s talking about it a lot online, yet the seats are always filled. Why arh?”

Our linguistics expert then chimed in. “Sociolinguistics would deduce that it’s not a movie made in the Kachru’s inner circle countries, which we wrongfully believed belong to the higher class.”

“Can you speak English?” I asked.

The linguistics expert then looked at me with some self-importance in his eyes, as if I’m someone living in a HDB wanting to buy a Lamborghini. “Because, my dear low-SES friend, it’s not high-SES enough, and people want to show high-SESness online.”

“What is a high-SES movie that people would talk about then?”

The linguistics expert then fished out an old book that looks like my literature textbook. “A movie like William Shakespeare.”

“Wait, I thought Shakespeare is a person.”

There was silence for three seconds before the linguistics expert banged the table forcefully and exclaimed:

“Shut up and get on with the damn article!”

“Okay. Do you guys know that two stars from 比悲伤更悲伤的故事 is coming to Singapore soon?”

Bufflord95 then started to wipe his tears – again. “Serious?”

Jasper Liu and Annie Chen Coming to Bugis+ on 24 January 2019

Before I go on with the article, here’s a disclaimer: there are certain truths in the make-believe conversation above.  比悲伤更悲伤的故事 is performing well in Singapore and it’s a great movie, but there’s a possibility that people aren’t exactly talking about that much, compared to a Hollywood movie, is due to the fact that it’s not high-SES enough.

But anyways, since Goody Feed is possibly the lowest-SES media in Singapore, it’s apt that we write about this.

Lest you’re not aware, Jasper Liu is the main lead who plays K.

And Annie Chen plays Cndy, or more commonly known as the “dentist’s fiancée”.

I know what you’re thinking: Cream isn’t coming?!

Well, don’t ask me; I’m just the messenger. Anyway 95% of the males in the office think Annie Chen is prettier, so no biggie #justsaying

I know what you’re thinking: they look so different from the movie with their new hairstyles.

But anyway.

Both of them would be in Bugis+ at 7:30 p.m. on 24 January 2019.

If you’re looking to blame someone for your uncontrollable bawling recently, you know where to find them.

Bugis+ isn’t Bugis Junction

In case you’re one who’s married to Shopee or Qoo10, and have forgotten that malls exist, here’s some info that might be helpful.

Bugis+, previously known as Iluma, is a relatively new mall that’s connected to Bugis Junction, the mall that we’re more familiar with.

To reach there via public transport, simply alight at Bugis MRT Station, cut through Bugis Junction into a bridge that connects to Bugis+ and ta-da: you’re there liao.

Ironically, the cinema in the mall (Filmgarde) doesn’t have 比悲伤更悲伤的故事, so after seeing your stars, you might need to head down to other cinemas to re-watch the movie.

And if you’ve yet to watch it, trust me: go watch it now. You won’t regret. You can check out the review I’ve written here.
