Singaporeans love their food.
That is an undeniable fact that is only proven by the wide variety of food types available in Hawker Centres alone.
And furiously debating over what our national or most prized dish is.
So it always pains me whenever I have to see food stalls close. One less yummy thing to go for.
Especially if the place has been running for years.
Gone By Year’s End
At least we still have some weeks left to enjoy this one.
Stateland Cafe at Bali Lane is closing down on 31 December.
Also known as Stateland Coffeehouse, the cafe has been running for around six and a half years and announced their closure earlier today via a Facebook post.
The post did not state the exact reason for closing down aside from it being sudden.
We can only speculate, I guess.
The cafe initially earned its fame through their delicious red velvet waffle items.
Help! That looks so good!
Following that, the cafe also gained popularity for its soft serves and mochi donuts.
I’m almost crying that I didn’t get to try some of these.
In its last few years, the cafe has expanded out into serving creative fusion meals such as Hainanese Chicken Risotto and Mentaiko Tiger Prawn Pasta.
Because sometimes classic Asian just isn’t as cool enough.
I want 20 of this thing right now.
This one is the Hainanese Chicken Risotto and I’m almost mad I’ve not tried this before.
If you’ve made it this far and wonder if the place is worth going to, the answer is likely yes.
Mains are at nett prices and come with a complimentary drink.
You can’t tell me that’s not value for money?
Brotherbird
Oh, and it’s about to get even sadder.
Within Stateland Cafe’s space also contains Brotherbird, who has closed their outlet at Djitsun Mall in Bedok.
There is another outlet at CT Hub 2 at 2 Kallang Avenue but that one doesn’t have the mochi donuts and soft-serve ice cream that people love so much.
If you want to go and give the place one last hurrah or check out this creative food outlet for yourself, you can head to the address below.
Address: 32 Bali Ln, Singapore 189868
Opening Hours: Monday and Wednesday (12 pm to 10 pm), Tuesday (6 pm to 10 pm)
It’s only open on selected weekdays so don’t go on a lovely weekend afternoon and expect it to open.
You can spend that time crying with me that such an awesome place is going to go away.
