Stuff’d Outlet at Square 2 is Giving Away Free Meals to TTSH Staff

Stuff’d is known for stuffing our stomachs with tortillas, guacamole, and lots and lots of grilled chicken.

Now it seems like they are stuffing our hearts with warmth too.

Stuff’d Giving Away Free Meals to TTSH Staff

In the span of one week, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) has transformed from a sanctuary from disease to a shunned COVID-19 cluster. There are even reports of landlords refusing tenancy to TTSH workers.

I don’t even know how to describe that. An act of selfishness? Paranoia?

But Stuff’d seems to have taken the high road instead. The fast food chain’s Square 2 outlet in Novena—right next to TTSH—is now offering free meals to TTSH employees.

A poster displayed next to the eatery’s basement outlet made it clear what the promotion was meant for: “TTSH… we love and thank you.”

TTSH staff can present their staff pass for the promotion, which includes any main item and drink of their choice, according to Great Deals Singapore.

The promotion was first spotted by reddit user u/Polared3d, with the (fitting) title “Aww stuff’d”.

Aww stuff’d 🥰 from singapore

While the comments point out that there are strict restrictions on hospital staff purchasing and consuming outside food, it remains a heartwarming gesture that… just makes me want my chicken kebab more.

Or is that the point? Hm.

Stuff’d Restoring Faith in Humanity

The fast food chain has a long history of helping people in need.

In 2019, the founder of the brand Adrian Ang resolved to provide one free meal a day to children in need through his Free Food For Kids campaign, reaching out to more than 140 beneficiaries.

In an interview with CNA, Ang related the initiative to his own struggles as a child, when he would often go hungry out of poverty.

“You can come out of poverty but sometimes the poverty never really leaves,” he remarked.

Children can express their interest by sending Stuff’d a message on Instagram or email. Once qualified, they are given a physical card that entitles them to any one item on the Stuff’d menu, which can be a precious source of fresh, healthy ingredients that are unaffordable to them otherwise.

In the same spirit, the chain has offered free kebabs as iftar during Ramadan for financially disadvantaged customers since as early as 2015. The tradition continues this year, despite presumed revenue losses from COVID-19.

Can capitalists somehow be ethical after all?
