Sunjay Kapur, chairman of Sona Comstar and a prominent figure in the Indian automotive industry, died on 12 June 2025 in London. He was 53.

Kapur was playing polo at Smith’s Lawn in Windsor when he collapsed.

Witnesses reported hearing him exclaim, “I’ve swallowed something,” before he lost consciousness during a break in the match.

According to The Independent, Kapur accidentally swallowed a bee, which likely stung him in the mouth and triggered anaphylactic shock, followed by a fatal heart attack.

Despite immediate medical attention, he could not be revived.

Kapur was in the United Kingdom for a polo tournament.

He was known to be an avid polo player and often played alongside members of the British royal family, including Prince William.

Kapur’s personal life often drew public attention. He was married to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016, with whom he had two children, Samaira and Kiaan.

Kapur is survived by his wife Priya Sachdev, their son Azarias, and his two children from his marriage to Karisma Kapoor.
