If you’ve downloaded our app (if you haven’t, why not?!), you’d have known that there’s a pasar malam with Uncle Ringo at Boon Lay Place now.
But there’s just one tiny problem for many of us: it’s not next to an MRT station. We’d have to take a bus from Boon Lay MRT Station or Lakeside MRT Station just to have some pasar malam vibes.

Though that doesn’t seem to bother people, with the article being shared for more than 1.3K times on Facebook.
Now here’s a better news: other than the Boon Lay funfair, there’s one that’s next to an MRT station, is larger and looks even more lit.
Meet the Sembawang MRT Trade Fair.
Sembawang Super Big, Super Lit & Super High-Tech Pasar Malam
Lest you’re not familiar with the north of Singapore, here’s a quick lesson that might be useful for some of you: Sembawang MRT Station is just next to Yishun MRT Station.
A mall, Sun Plaza, is located just beside the station, and there’s a large open area next to it.
Here, take a look at how big this area is:
And now, this area has been transformed into this:
OMG, indeed.

But if you think it’s just another big pasar malam (you know, like the one that’s next to Causeway Poinit), you’re wrong.
For a start, you’ve the usual pasar malam products just to smooth you into the mood…
…then you’ve the not-so-usual foods that you can only find in hipster bazaars.
But a pasar malam isn’t a pasar malam nowadays without some Instagram-worthy foods, like this:
Yah, cartoon baos that look too good to be eaten:

Now, it even have fruit stalls…
…including a durian stall.
You’re on a diet but still want to buy something? How about some second-hand goods…from Sungei Road market?
But let’s face it: it still looks like another pasar malam.
Hold your horses (and your judgement), because it really isn’t just your typical pasar malam.

Sembawang Just Add Fun to Fair
Simply put, it’s because Uncle Ringo is here.
Now, before that, there are the usual traditional carnival games to keep your kids occupied…
…these box thingy that I thought have been deemed to be considered “gambling”…
…furniture that looks like IKEA in 1950s…
…stuff that your grandparents would love…
…and most importantly, the uncle we love the most in Singapore: Uncle Ringo funfair.

Now, you’ll realize I keep on harping on some high-tech games, so here’s what I’m talking about:
Did I just see some live-firing action in a pasar malam?
Other than that, there are Pirate Ship, Bumper Car, Samba and more.

So seriously, if the Prudential Marina Bay Carnival is too mainstream for you, heading up north isn’t a bad idea after all.
