Indeed, the Olympics is all about winning.
In the recent Rio Olympics, Chinese Olympic player, Qin Kai got down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend after the games and won her hand in marriage.
Qin had previously won a Bronze medal in the 3-metre synchronized springboard event.
According to a report by CNN, after Chinese diver, He Zi won a silver medal for her Springboard event, she took the podium and was greeted by her boyfriend. The wedding proposal took her completely by surprise.
The 25-year-old was met by boyfriend Qin Kai, a fellow Olympic diver, who bent low on one knee by the podium before offering up a red velvet box containing an engagement ring.
Though risky, the marriage proposal was a resounding success. After He Zi replied with a tearful “yes”, Qin placed the ring on her finger and gave the cameras a thumbs up.
Though He Zi did not exactly catch what Qin was saying at the spur of the moment, she was certain that he was the guy she would want to spend the rest of her life with.
“He (Qin) said a lot of things there at the podium. He made a lot of promises, but the thing that has touched me the most is that I think this is the guy I can trust for the rest of my life.”
Sadly, instead of showing support for the couple, many Chinese netizens have spoken up and questioned Qin’s decision to propose.
Some say that it was awkward for He Zi, while others mentioned that Qin put He Zi in a position as it would be difficult for her to refuse his proposal.
Well, you can’t please everyone.
