Honestly, I wouldn’t want to be Mr Lee Chin Soo right now.
The Pow Sing director has been in the media spotlight for the past few days after several cases of gastroenteritis (also known as stomach flu) were traced to the restaurant’s food.
They were then ordered to suspend operations.
As of July 12, 29 cases had been verified by NEA.
Mr Lee made it a point to eat a plate of chicken rice from his eatery’s kitchen every day after the incident blew up.
“After I heard the news, I ordered all my staff to eat chicken rice every day,” Mr Lee told TODAY.
He didn’t leave his staff to “die alone”, though – Mr Lee joined in the fun, eating a plate a day.
“Why? Because I want to know whether my food is problematic.”
Thankfully, everyone turned out okay, and there were no further cases of gastroenteritis.
Upon being asked if he had visited any customers who suffered from diarrhea, Mr Lee chuckled and said that the cases he had heard of so far were “minor”. But when some of them came back with medical bills, he paid for those.
It seems that Mr Lee was indeed remorseful – or “distraught”, as he put it – and we can only hope that he manages to source out whatever brought Pow Sing down.
