To all my fellow people who think they need to slim down some, I have amazing news for you.
People always say that aircon is the best invention of mankind, and ice cream a close second.
Why is it second? Because, well, eat too much and you’ll end up like me. Having curves in all the wrong places.
So there you are, thinking that I’m going to eat clean. I’m going to exercise and I’m going to lose 5 kg by the time December comes around.
Most of us don’t last, because eating clean includes not taking in stuff like ice cream. But what if I were to tell you that there’s a place in Singapore now selling healthy ice cream.
And it tastes as good as the real thing.
Swensen’s Selling Guilt-Free Ice Cream With Less Sugar
On 16 Jul 2018 (yeah, we’re late into the game ‘coz we just received this in our office, but anyways), Swensen’s launched their range of Guilt-Free chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice cream for Singaporeans.
Don’t be fooled by their snazzy, colourful appearance. Not all things that appear beautiful are bad for you.
Exactly how healthy? These babies over here have 39% less sugar than their regular ice cream.
Not only that, their new range of ice cream contains more soluble fibre too. And they’re approved by Health Promotion Board.
But like what my handsome colleague likes to say, “It doesn’t matter how healthy a food is. A food is only good when it tastes good.”
So, it’s healthier, but…
How Did The Ice Cream Taste?
I admit to having this bias myself: if a food is “healthy”, it’s not supposed to taste good. If it does, it’s not healthy.
Healthy delicious food is an oxymoron.
But let me just say that Swensen’s might’ve changed our minds with their chocolate ice cream.
You’d forget that you’re eating the “less sugar” version of an ice cream when you just take a bite of that.
In fact, lesser sugar in the chocolate ice cream only served to make it taste more premium. Because you’ll feel like you’re eating a delicious dark-chocolate version of their regular counterparts.
Plus, the chocolate is thick, making you feel like the proportion of cocoa in this ice cream is out of the world.
The strawberry’s a pretty good one too.
Unfortunately, the vanilla’s a bit of a disappointment, pretty understandable given that if a vanilla ice cream isn’t sweet, it just tastes bland.
But all in all, two out of three isn’t bad. And now you know what to really go for, right?
Where Can You Find Them?
The Guilt-Free range is available at all Swensen’s outlets. And the best part? It’s the same price as their regular ice cream.
$4.50 for a single scoop and $7.50 for a double scoop. If you’ve read the mini-review we wrote just above, you know you don’t need more than two scoops.
You can also enjoy the guilt-free range with Swensen’s Build Your Own Sundae too!
But hor, eat in moderation lah. Less sugar doesn’t mean no sugar. Yup, I shamelessly stole that line from the Singapore Police Force.
