Fierce Competition in Tampines Leads to $2 Cai Png
Remember those golden days when Grab and Uber were at each other’s throats, and we, the consumers, were the real winners with those super affordable rides?
Well, folks, it seems like history is repeating itself, but this time, it’s not on the roads.
Instead, it’s in the bustling heart of Tampines, where the aroma of delicious cai png fills the air.
The Great Tampines Cai Png Showdown
In a scene straight out of a foodie’s dream, three cai png stalls, nestled in the corners of adjacent HDB flats in Tampines, have rolled up their sleeves and dived headfirst into a fierce price war.
The result?
A mouth-watering cai png set that’s lighter on the wallet but heavy on flavor.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the contenders are:
Lady Boss’s Home-cooked Dishes and Feng Sheng Restaurant (Teochew Porridge): These two are like the dynamic duo, both setting up shop in the bustling coffee shop at Block 477.
Great Wall Chinese Dishes: A stone’s throw away, this stall stands tall in Block 478’s coffeeshop.
Apparently, Feng Sheng Restaurant, the old player in the game, started this delicious trend about a year ago, pricing their scrumptious 2 veggies, 1 meat combo at a cool $2.70.
The owner said that with so many elderly folks around, it was a win-win: affordable meals for them and increased foot traffic for the stall.
And guess what’s on the menu? Delicacies like braised egg, cabbage, Kung Pao chicken, and ginger-spring onion pork. But hey, if you’re feeling fancy and want some broccoli or lotus root, just be ready to shell out a bit more.
Great Wall’s Master Plan
Now, the folks at Great Wall Chinese Dishes weren’t just sitting around. Apparently, when they first opened shop last year, they had a few days of crazy promotions.
Seeing the crowd’s response, they thought, “Why not?” and reintroduced the $2.50 set in May.
Think that’s cheap?
Lady Boss: Hold my beer.
Lady Boss Enters the Arena
But wait, there’s more.
Lady Boss’s Home-cooked Dishes decided to join the party two weeks ago, and boy, did they make an entrance.
Their dishes? A steal at $2 for the 2 veggies, 1 meat combo.
And if you’re a meat lover, their 2 meats, 1 vegetable dish is just $2.50.
The Lady Boss herself revealed that this strategy bumped up their sales by a whopping 10%. From selling a respectable 300 plates a day, they now dish out over 400. And their menu? Think sesame oil chicken, curry chicken, and fresh greens.
But, as always, the fancier dishes come with a tiny extra charge.
The real kicker? None of these stalls admit to slashing prices because of the competition. But hey, whatever the reason, we’re not complaining.
