This is Tan Chuan-Jin, a Member of Parliament for Marine Parade GRC since May 2011.
And Mr Tan is running for election this GE too.
Literally.
Two days ago, he posted an Instagram TV video, showing him running between different households to cover as many households as possible.
I pity his team because Mr Tan used to be Brigadier-General Tan before he left the SAF to join politics back in 2011, so no one would question his fitness.
In fact, during the Circuit Breaker period, he’s been posting workout videos like a #fitspo influencer.
The 51-year-old used to be a Minister for Manpower and the Minister for Social and Family Development before he stepped down to take the role as the Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore in 2017, after then Speaker Halimah Yacob resigned to contest in the Presidential Elections 2017.
If you’ve just become his fan, then good for you because you can now Photoshop him into your selfie, because someone has cropped him out into a psd (Photoshop) template for you to insert him in any scene effortlessly as long as you’ve Photoshop.
And the best-est part of this?
The man himself ‘approves’.
Tan Chuan-Jin Sportingly Shares Images of Him Running Away from Zombie & Chasing Wonder Woman
This isn’t the first time Mr Tan ran for election literally.
Back in the last election, he was also seen running between houses without a mask, and called it his “most regular form of exercise”.
Yesterday, the #fitspo influencer shared this:
Lest you can’t view, here are what he’s posted:
An image of him running away from zombies in Train to Marine Parade Busan:
An image of him chasing Wonder Woman for a wonderful result this GE:
An image of him missing his days in the army:
And of course, finally, an image that graphic designer hates the most (it’s a damn jpg):
Marine Parade Battleground: A PAP VS WP Turf
The Speaker is leading the fight in Marine Parade GRC together with former Marine Parade GRC MPs Edwin Tong and Seah Kian Peng, and two new faces: Dr Tan See Leng and Mohd Fahmi Aliman.
The fight used to be led by former Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong.
They’re up against Workers’ Party Ron Tan Jun Yen, Yee Jenn Jong, Nathaniel Koh Kim Kui, Muhammad Fadli Bin Mohammed Fawzi and Muhammad Azhar Bin Abdul Latip.
Lest you’ve forgotten, polling day will be on next Friday. So what happens if you didn’t vote? Would you be jailed? Would you be barred from buying bubble tea for the next five years? Watch this video and you’ll know the consequences:
