Be careful of who you meet online because sometimes, they might not be who they claim to be.
For example, you thought that dashing dude who looks like a certain handsome Speaker of Parliament is catfishing on Tinder secretly and sent over your sensitive images, only to realise the only thing they have in common is that they speak English.
And before you think that’s impossible, here’s what that certain handsome Speaker of Parliament recently found out.
Tan Chuan-Jin Found His Images Used in Tinder & is Called ‘Ben’
Knowing that you’re handsome enough to be impersonated on a dating app is an interesting experience that not everyone gets to have.
And yet, that was what Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin went through.
In a Facebook update on 21 Jan 2021, Mr Tan shared that he is now a dude named ‘Ben’ on Tinder.
Apparently, he found out about it thanks to a tip-off from another person, whom he named “xxx”.
And in true Tan Chuan Jin fashion, the thing he cared most about is…how many right swipes did “his” profile get on Tinder?
Not that he knows anything much about it, quote-unquote.
You can read his amusing post below:
Netizens’ Response
Now, you might’ve thought, what kind of response is that?
Well, that’s a response from one of the more well-liked politicians in Singapore, including our boss’s.
And netizens were quick to respond to his post, with one asking if ‘Ben’ will be POFMA-ed
Another figured that he’ll get swipes with a little bit of help
He’s also not the only one who found out he’s on Tinder, apparently
One thing for sure, though, the minister wasn’t the only star in the photos
Just remember that while it’s all fun and games, the dangers of getting scammed, or worse, online is a real possibility.
So never trust 100% in things that you see online, no matter what.
Unless it’s cat pictures. Cats never lie.
