Now that the Elections Department has released information about who is qualified to run for President in Singapore and who is not, it is no surprise that people are scrutinising the candidates who have declared their intention to run for President.
Of the various candidates, some tea about Mr Tan Kin Lian has been making its rounds on social media lately.
Mr Tan is an active Facebook user and has made multiple posts about spotting a “pretty girl” in public.
This has led to some netizens being outraged at such behaviour.
Mr Tan has since responded to these comments.
Here is more about this issue.
Mr Tan Kin Lian’s Facebook Posts Mention Some “Pretty Girl”
Earlier this week, a video compiling screenshots of Presidential-hopeful Mr Tan Kin Lian’s Facebook posts went viral on the social media platform TikTok.

And no, we are not talking about cringy Facebook posts about being emo and such.
These posts involve Mr Tan talking about some “pretty girl” he spots in public.
The video garnered over 200,000 views at the time of writing this article.
Um, could the 75-year-old be a cheekopeh (slang for pervert)?
Well, given the posts he makes, it would not come as a surprise if he were.
One says he was sitting next to a “pretty girl” on the bus. He attaches a selfie to the post but says he “cannot show you” who the pretty girl is.
Another post with a selfie of Mr Tan recounts how he walked into a “bakery shop” and the sales assistant, another “pretty girl”, was looking at him with “great interest”.
Mr Tan Kin Lian Responds to Comments About His Posts
Given the various comments Mr Tan has made, which some netizens viewed as inappropriate, Mr Tan had no choice but the address the controversy.
The Straits Times reported that Mr Tan said his posts were “quite light” and “quite enjoyable” while on a walkabout at West Coast Market Square.
He did not think there should be any fuss about his posts, and only a “small minority” of people are uncomfortable with his posts.
Um, perhaps Mr Tan would like to think again.
In any case, it may be that Mr Tan has much to battle, given his strong online presence.
Apart from the TikTok video, some people on Reddit (another social media platform) commented and compiled some of Mr Tan’s questionable Facebook posts.
