While not exactly a household name, many savvy shoppers know where to look to get the cheapest deals.
I often used to shop on Taobao, that giant Chinese e-commerce platform owned by Alibaba.
For extra safety, I’d use it through SGShop, Singapore’s very own (Taobao) purchasing agent that helps you buy your products online and ships to you for a small fee.

But the good news is, Taobao has set up a store in Singapore!
Taobao’s 6,000sqft Store at Funan Mall
Taobao, the Alibaba-owned e-commerce platform, has a new presence in Singapore. They now have a physical store at the basement of Funan Mall.
Done in partnership with local business partner Virmall, it is the absolute first Taobao Store in Southeast Asia and ten times larger than the pop-up at Nomadx last year.
Let’s have a glance at what they offer:
- 6 display areas showcasing 300 homeware items, furniture, and kitchen appliances.
- Merchandise including Linsy Home, Xiao Xiong and Joyoung (kitchen appliances)
- A free Virtual Reality (VR) station and store staff to assist in your mockup of how the new furniture will fit into your home. Good to visualize before you buy.
Ask the staff for help, whether on the VR, selecting matching colours for your furniture or even scanning the items’ QR code at checkout.
They are hereby termed “Colours’ Ambassadors” for their knowledge on the palette.
Okay, my little joke. I take it back.
But really, why wait? It’s a good chance to furnish your house!

According to Sky Chen, general manager of Virmall, the brand Linsy Home has 6,000 inventory on hand. The displays will also be refreshed continuously.
You can purchase some items at the store, but the larger ones will be delivered in two or three days. Moreover, you can pick up your online purchases there.
