Earlier on 21 August 2020, a video of a man doing a “GTA” in Singapore went viral.
In the video, it ended at a cliffhanger as the man fled off the frame, and we spend the entire night searching for the next episode.
Because it’s a crime to end at such a cliffhanger, the police have come out to tell us the ending, so we won’t think that the man is still running away somewhere in Singapore, without his shirt, with four men and women in blue behind him.
Police: He Was Eventually Arrested
According to the people in blue, the incident happened at around 10:30am on 21 August 2020.
The officers had seen him standing on Esplanade Drive and walking about aimlessly and in a dangerous manner.
They then approached him, but he was uncooperative and incoherent, as you can see from the video.
Oh wait, you’ve not seen the video yet? I don’t know where you’ve been but here’s the video:
6 police officers confront an agressive man on the road at Esplanade Drive. They even taser the man but he gets up, rips off his shirt and runs away through traffic with the officers giving chase. The police added, “As officers attempted to engage him further, he started to gesticulate and speak loudly while continuing to walk in the middle of the road, around the junction of Fullerton Road and Esplanade Drive, which was dangerous as there were vehicles driving by.”
They tried to pull him to the pavement because last I know, even cats know it’s not safe to stand in the middle of a busy road, but he continued to be violent and resisted the officers’ attempt.
He then got aggressive and charged at one of the officers.
One of the officers used a taser on the man, but here’s the thing: there’s a…erm, IA (immediate action).
One of the probes of the taser was later dislodged, which limited its effectiveness.
Because by right, being tasered feels like thousands of nails being hammered into your body; it is incredibly painful and will incapacitate you immediately.
The man managed to get up from the taser shot and dashed across the road junction, and the video ended there.
It turned out that he was eventually arrested because police officers must have passed their IPPT while this man doesn’t look like he even went for his IPPT.
He was arrested for disorderly behaviour, voluntarily causing hurt to public servants and alleged consumption of controlled drugs.
The 28-year-old man is also a wanted man with an outstanding warrant of arrest, though you shouldn’t judge too quickly because you’d also have a warrant of arrest if you didn’t pay your ERP fines and didn’t attend court hearings scheduled for you.
With people commenting about the officers’ actions, the police have this to say: “In considering the use of force, the police take into consideration the proportionality of the force to be applied vis-a-vis the perceived threat, the safety of the target on which force is to be applied, and that of the general public and our officers.”
Investigations are ongoing.
During the whole process, he had also assaulted and injured two officers.
And did anyone else notice the Lexus beside them, and the fact that he’s extremely well-dressed?
