Man Who Was Tasered in Viral Video Had Been Throwing Chairs At Other Patrons

Dozens of years ago, the legendary Ip Man entered history books when he asked the following question:

“I want to fight ten people.”

And when his request was granted, he promptly delivered the coldest beatdown known to mankind.

Yet, as accomplished a feat as it was, it’s one that many have struggled to re-enact.

Including the following piece, though the intention isn’t anything as heroic as the originator’s feat.

Man Who Was Tasered in Viral Video

You may have already seen this particular piece of footage.

A topless man was captured on video challenging officers to a fight, and was subsequently taken down by a taser.

But if you haven’t, no worries. You can few the footage here.

It should be noted that there’s a longer version embedded within the comments section of the post.

Had Been Throwing Chairs At Other Patrons

If you were wondering about the exact cause behind the scuffle, well here’s the deal.

Apparently, the man had fallen down at a coffee shop at Block 802 French Road, and was being attended to by paramedics and members of the public.

Instead of being grateful, however, he turned violent and began throwing chairs at other patrons at the coffee shop.

Even when police officers arrived on the scene, he persisted in exhibiting aggressive behaviour.

“Despite repeated reminders to the man to comply with officers’ instructions, the man allegedly challenged the officers to a fight and charged towards officers.”

Left with no choice, the officers had to take him down with tasers.

“The police have zero tolerance towards acts of violence against public officers performing their duty and offenders will be dealt with firmly,” they added.

The man was apprehended for various offences, including causing hurt to deter a public servant, being a public nuisance and a theft incident near the coffeeshop.

Police investigations are currently ongoing.

If convicted for voluntarily causing hurt to “deter a public servant from discharging his duty”, he can face an imprisonment term of up to seven years, a fine or caning.

Prior Instances

Unfortunately, such instances do not exactly occur once in a blue moon.

On 21 August 2020, police officers saw a man standing on Esplanade Drive and walking about aimlessly and in a dangerous manner.

They then approached him, but he was uncooperative and incoherent.

The police added, “As officers attempted to engage him further, he started to gesticulate and speak loudly while continuing to walk in the middle of the road, around the junction of Fullerton Road and Esplanade Drive, which was dangerous as there were vehicles driving by.”

They tried to pull him to the pavement because last I know, even cats know it’s not safe to stand in the middle of a busy road, but he continued to be violent and resisted the officers’ attempt.

He then got aggressive and charged at one of the officers.

One of the officers used a taser on the man, but here’s the thing: there’s an…erm, IA (immediate action). One of the probes of the taser was later dislodged, which limited its effectiveness.

The man managed to get up from the taser shot and dashed across the road junction.

He was, however, eventually arrested.
