S’pore Secondary School Teacher Quit to Become OnlyFans Content Creator

Are you looking to switch careers but unsure of whether you should?

Well, perhaps teacher-turned-OnlyFans-creator Chanel Yui can help you with that. Chanel recently quit her job as a secondary school teacher to become an OnlyFans creator.

Secondary School Teacher Quits Job to Become OnlyFans Creator

Speaking to Esther Lai-Joseph from That Mom Chat on TikTok, Chanel Yui shares that “stripping” was “cathartic” for her.

You see, the OnlyFans creator-cosplayer called it quits at her previous position as a secondary school teacher to become an OnlyFans creator.

Leaving your “iron rice bowl” behind to pursue OnlyFans? Something tells us that many Singaporeans aren’t very comfortable with that idea.

Regardless, Chanel decided to do it anyway, despite her finding the switch “scary”—and not for the reasons you think it’s for.

“If you have [a] full-time job, every month, a certain date, the money will come in … going to freelance itself is a very scary thing, that’s the scariest part,” Chanel admitted in the TikTok.

As a freelance OnlyFans creator, you’re not guaranteed a monthly income. The rice bowl is far from “iron”.

So what prompted Chanel to leave her childhood dream job as a teacher to become an OnlyFans creator? She provided a few reasons, and Goody Feed is here to summarise them for you.

Escaping a Suffocating Environment to be Herself

In the TikTok, Chanel shares that she had been in a “suffocating environment” for a couple of years, adding that she was called down to the school office multiple times after complaints were levelled against her during her time as a secondary school teacher.

“And I’m like, why can’t I be myself?”

It is unclear whether these complaints are related to her conduct in school or on social media platforms.

However, making the career switch allowed Chanel to escape this “suffocating environment”, which she described as a “cathartic” process.

The Passing of Her Mother: A Responsibility Lifted Off Her Shoulders

In the TikTok, Chanel also shared that her mother’s passing was the “turning point” that pushed her to make the switch.

She added that it was akin to having one colossal responsibility lifted off her shoulders, prompting her to “open up” to greener pastures.

Perhaps not “greener” from the perspective of most Singaporeans, but aiya, happy can already lah.

Mentored by Best Friend, Sakura

In a separate livestream hosted by @thatmomchat, Chanel also revealed that another reason for her transition into OnlyFans was her friends.

As it turns out, Chanel had already been helping her best friend Sakura, a successful OnlyFans creator, with her content. This includes assisting Sakura in taking photos and booking flights.

“All along, I’ve already been dipping my toes into each of these platforms. So it’s quite natural to follow what my friends are already successful in,” Chanel said.

With the peace of mind of knowing that her best friend would be there to mentor and guide her through getting started in such a field, Chanel decided to make the switch.

As she describes it, it’s akin to having a “sensei” in the field.
