Unless you’re that one kid in class who’s always super “on” about learning new things and sitting in boring lectures, I’m pretty sure that most people have had times when they just DREAD going to school.
But dreading to go to school because you don’t want to sit in class all day listening to your teacher talk about something that you have no interest is different from not wanting to go to school because you’re scared of your teacher.
Everyone was scared of their teacher at one point in life. And truth be told, we might not have had a good reason to be scared of them then.
However, this boy did.
Bruises found during dinner
The father of the boy, Mr Zhao said that the boy’s mother had noticed several bruises on the stomach and legs of the boy during dinner.
The three-year-old boy later then refused to go to school, citing that he was “scared of the teacher”.
Aiyo, so poor thing.
His parents brought him to KK Women and Children’s Hospital where the doctor said that the bruises were unlikely to have been caused by the bumping into things while playing.
Mr and Mrs Zhao also contacted his pre-school to ask about the bruises.
However, the school was not able to provide them with answers. Hence, they decided to file a police report.
Actions have been taken
According to The Straits Times, two working days after the incident was reported, the teacher was temporarily suspended.
One might think that the teacher might have been new to the job and was therefore reckless. However, the teacher has actually been in the early childhood industry for 4 years and has been with the pre-school for more than a year.
The school is now working closely with the police and the parents of the boy to resolve the matter.
The Early Childhood Development Agency (EDCA) had said that they take a serious view towards any case of child mismanagement. They follow up on every child mismanagement case, such as through unannounced visits to schools, interviews and verification of records.
Not the first time
The EDCA has handled multiple cases like this- including a case last year where a three-year-old girl returned home with her ear badly bruised.
Let’s hope that justice would be served for the boy.
Besides… karma has its own way of getting around to people. 😉
