Now, the title is mostly the “official” story, and it’s a bit of a strange story wherein a teen commits suicide.

But I’ll leave you to decide what to think, so let’s look at the case involving the 15-year-old girl with the pseudonym Xiao Huan just based on facts.

Xiao Huan’s Mother Receives A Call, Alleging That She Stole A Mobile Phone

On 2 Sep 2019, at about 12 noon, Xiao Huan’s mother received a call from her class teacher saying that Xiao Huan had stolen another student’s mobile phone which was previously confiscated from the teacher.

The teacher added that Xiao Huan had used this phone to send text messages to other classmates, but Xiao Huan wouldn’t admit to stealing the phone.

After her mother arrived at school, Xiao Huan admitted she took the phone from the teacher’s office after constant questioning. She also apologised to the teacher.

Xiao Huan and her mother left school at 2.20 pm. Her mother left Xiao Huan at home to go to work, but felt somewhat worried and came back around 3 pm.

When the mother knocked on Xiao Huan’s door, nobody answered. She called her husband home immediately to open the door, but they found no one there and immediately called the police.

Police advised them to search for Xiao Huan’s Hukou (an important identifying document), and double-check whether she really left the home.

But when searching, they found Xiao Huan’s window to be open, and they found her sprawled on the floor in a pool of blood, still in her uniform. No matter how many times they called her name, Xiao Huan wouldn’t reply.

A note was also found to contain the following message: “Mom and Dad, just treat it like you didn’t raise me up, cause I’m a stain in the both of your lives. I don’t want this, so, goodbye!”

Her note had also mentioned stealing a mobile phone.

But What Happened?

According to Xiao Huan’s mother, Xiao Huan had told her that the teacher confiscated a classmate’s phone. This classmate asked Xiao Huan to take back the phone as Xiao Huan was helping the teacher with some tasks, and was the only one able to enter the teacher’s office.

Because Xiao Huan was good with this classmate, she agreed to do so.

The mother is of the opinion that Xiao Huan had never wanted to take the phone for herself.

In these circumstances, when she arrived at school, Xiao Huan, Xiao Huan’s neighbouring class’s schoolmate and parents, and two class teachers were all present. She believed this shamed Xiao Huan of being accused to the point of suicide.

The schoolmate’s mother thinks that her child definitely had the phone confiscated, but didn’t ask Xiao Huan for help to steal the phone.

After some investigations, on 24 September, it was reported that the school had handled the situation appropriately, and the two teachers’ manners in the incident were also appropriate.

But Xiao Huan’s mother is not convinced. She believes Xiao Huan has a “boyish” character (a difficult phrase to translate, but it generally means hardheaded), and wasn’t convinced that she would commit suicide in this manner.

A small team of investigators has been formed on 14 Dec to review the incident.
