A 16-year-old boy received 18 months’ probation on Tuesday (27 May) after repeatedly trespassing into a female toilet at a junior college to spy on women.
The teen, whose identity remains protected under a court gag order, told authorities his actions stemmed from curiosity about the female anatomy.
He pleaded guilty to one count of trespass and one count of voyeurism, with another four counts of trespass considered during sentencing.

Multiple Toilet Intrusions Driven by Curiosity About Female Anatomy
The offences occurred on the afternoon of 18 Jul 2024, when the accused first entered the female toilet twice. He claimed he was “curious about the female anatomy and how females urinate,” according to the prosecution.
The teen was unsuccessful in locating any females during these initial attempts. At about 3:50pm, he returned and sat inside a cubicle.
An 18-year-old female student entered the cubicle to his right. The boy lowered his head through the gap below the divider and observed the victim momentarily before she noticed him.
The victim was startled but did not shout or move. The accused left the toilet after realising he had been spotted.
The victim exited the cubicle but did not see the accused. She informed the school’s general office and later lodged a police report.
Continued Offending Despite Being Caught
The teen trespassed into the female toilet twice more the following day, continuing his voyeuristic behaviour despite being caught previously.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Brian Tan described the offences as premeditated and noted the accused’s persistence. “The accused persisted with his offending conduct of entering the female toilet even after having been caught by the victim,” he said.
The prosecution did not object to a probation suitability report, having considered the teen’s young age and lack of prior offences.

Court Orders Probation with Conditions
The court ordered the teen to perform 60 hours of community service alongside his probation period. He must attend psychological or psychiatric treatment if deemed necessary.
His parents were placed on a S$5,000 (~SGD$5,000) bond to guarantee his good behaviour during probation. Since probation was ordered, the teen will not have a criminal record.
Under Singapore law, voyeurism carries penalties of up to two years’ imprisonment, fines, caning, or any combination thereof. Trespassing offences can result in up to three months in jail, fines up to S$1,500, or both.
