Driver Reports Teens for Vaping and Slurred Speech

Two teenagers were reported to the police for vaping in a private-hire car, appearing disoriented with slurred speech.

The driver stopped and asked traffic police for help on the expressway, who then had the teens removed from the car and taken away in an ambulance.

The 51-year-old private-hire car driver, Mr. Guo (name transliterated from Mandarin), picked up the two teens, approximately 16 or 17 years old, at around 9:00 AM on Sunday, 18 May 2025.

“Their destination was a HDB flat in Choa Chu Kang. After getting into the car, they started vaping. I felt something wasn’t right at that moment,” he said.

Mr. Guo overheard the teenagers talking about getting “K-pods” (zombie vape pods).

“This made me very worried. They seemed to become ‘dazed’ from vaping, and couldn’t even speak clearly. I thought I should report this to the authorities,” he added.

Police and Ambulance Called to the Scene

Mr. Guo initially planned to drive straight to a police station. However, while on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) heading toward Woodlands near the Dairy Farm Road exit, he spotted traffic police and honked at them.

“I got out of the car and told the police what happened. Later, several police officers and an ambulance arrived at the scene. The two teenagers appeared very calm.”

According to photos provided by Mr. Guo, at least eight officers were gathered around the vehicle.

Mr. Guo revealed that when he checked his car on Monday, 19 May 2025, morning, he found vape pod shells left behind by the teenagers.

“I’ve been seeing many reports about young people vaping recently, which I find very concerning. Vaping products are harmful to health. I hope the authorities can enforce the laws more strictly to prevent similar incidents from happening again,” Mr. Guo stated.

The Civil Defence Force confirmed they received a report about the incident but said their assistance wasn’t required.
