Six teenagers orchestrated a violent assault against a 16-year-old girl at SAFRA Choa Chu Kang on 10 Oct 2024.
The attack took place in an accessible toilet on the building’s fifth floor at around 2:20pm.
One of the attackers, a 17-year-old girl, pleaded guilty on Monday (23 Jun 2025) and received 15 months’ probation. The court sentenced her to 80 hours of community service and imposed a nightly curfew from 10pm to 6am.
Her mother and stepfather signed a S$5,000 bond to guarantee her good behaviour during the probation period.
Teen Girls Plan Coordinated Attack Through Group Chats
The six teenagers had an ongoing dispute with their victim before the assault. They created a group chat to discuss how to “settle” their grievances with the 16-year-old girl.
Three of the girls formed a separate chat group and planned to lure the victim out to “teach her a lesson”. The 17-year-old defendant and two other accomplices agreed to participate in the attack.
One of the attackers contacted the victim under false pretences. She claimed the victim needed to return some items and arranged to meet at SAFRA Choa Chu Kang that day.
The girl led the victim to the accessible toilet on the fifth floor. Four attackers were waiting inside and immediately confronted the victim upon her arrival.
Video-Recorded Assault Leaves Victim with Multiple Injuries
The attackers forced the victim to kneel and apologise to them. One of the girls livestreamed the confrontation to another accomplice via video call.
The accomplice on the video call instructed the victim to kneel and apologise to the group. Four girls took turns slapping the victim following these remote instructions.
Another attacker arrived at the scene midway through the assault. She demanded an apology from the victim before slapping and kicking her.
One of the girls punched and kicked the victim multiple times, delivering three additional slaps. Another attacker kicked the victim during the prolonged assault.
The accomplice on the video call proposed a final 15-second beating. The defendant recorded the entire assault on her phone while keeping track of the time. The livestream continued throughout the final round of violence.
The victim sustained facial bruising and abrasions on her chest, arms, shoulders, lips, and knees. She sought medical treatment at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and received three days of medical leave.
All six attackers faced charges in court after the incident. Five of them were charged with rioting, while the sixth faced charges for inciting others to riot. The accomplices ranged in age from 13 to 17 years old, with the youngest being just 13.
All six defendants pleaded guilty to their respective charges. The court cannot publish identifying details about any of the teenagers as they are under 18 years old.
