A 29-year-old man was found dead at the foot of Block 17A Telok Blangah Crescent on Saturday (28 Jun 2025).
The Singapore Police Force received a call for assistance at about 1.15pm.
The man was found lying motionless and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 21-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the incident.
Relationship Dispute Preceded Tragic Fall from HDB Block
The deceased and the arrested woman were reportedly in a relationship and lived together in the same HDB block. According to Shin Min Daily News, the couple had gotten into an argument before the man fell from the window.
A 68-year-old neighbour, identified only as Madam Yu, said that she often heard the couple quarrelling loudly. The man’s mother would occasionally visit to take care of the children.
Residents reported seeing police officers in the area on Saturday afternoon.
A blue tent was set up at the foot of the block.
The spot where the man fell was within 100 metres of a wake being held at a nearby void deck. Relatives attending the wake said the man was stocky in build and was wearing only his underwear when found.
A passing vehicle ran over the man’s legs after the fall. The driver got out to check on the situation, eyewitnesses said.
Woman Apprehended Under Mental Health Act After Suicide Attempt
The 21-year-old woman was apprehended under Section 7 of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act 2008. She was arrested because she tried to take her own life following the incident.
Under Singapore’s Mental Health Act, police must apprehend any person believed to be in danger to their own life or another person’s life, and who is reasonably suspected of suffering from a mental disorder.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force received a call for assistance at about 1.20pm. The person was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.
Based on preliminary investigations, police do not suspect foul play. Police investigations are ongoing.
The case occurred one day after a 56-year-old woman was found dead at the foot of a block in Clementi.
