A 42-year-old Thai man shot and killed his sister-in-law at a weekend house in Kamphaeng Phet province on 22 Jun 2025.

The suspect, identified as Arsia, allegedly committed the crime because he believed his sister-in-law was serving inadequate meals to his elderly mother.
Officers from Khlong Lan Police Station arrested Arsia later that night in Pong Namron sub-district, Khlong Lan district.
Fatal Shooting Over Food Preparation Dispute
The victim, 53-year-old Nittaya, was found dead on the front steps of the house with five gunshot wounds to her face, shoulder, chest, and arms.
Nittaya was married to Arsiaโs brother, 52-year-old Plew.
After further questioning, Arsia confessed to the crime. He claimed to be angered over Nittayaโs meal preparation for his 77-year-old mother, Kern, stating she only served omelettes.
Arsia insisted there were no other conflicts between him and his sister-in-law or brother. He admitted to being under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred.
The family lived in separate arrangements. Nittaya and Plew resided with Kern, while Arsia lived in a nearby house with his father.
Plew told KhaoSod that he and his wife had visited his fatherโs house to borrow money. A heated argument broke out between them over their motherโs food during this visit.
Arsia threatened to shoot them during the argument. Plew did not believe his brother would follow through with the threat.
Mother Contradicts Sonโs Claims About Meal Quality
Kern told Amarin TV that she could no longer tolerate spicy food and actually preferred omelettes. She stated that Nittaya had provided a variety of meals, but Arsia was unaware of this because he lived separately.
Nittaya had only moved into Kernโs house one year earlier. She had previously been married and had two children with her ex-husband.
Plew expressed deep remorse for asking his wife to live with his family. He believed this decision ultimately led to her tragic death.
Before he was transferred to prison, Arsia apologised to his parents. His father urged him to fully confess to the police and take responsibility for his actions.
Arsia promised that he would cook for his parents after being released from prison.
