A 50-year-old Thai man stabbed a female grocery store owner 31 times in Phitsanulok Province on 10 Jun 2025. He claimed he attacked her after discovering she was married while they were in a relationship.
Officers from Wang Thong Police Station responded to the incident at around 9:00am at a house that also operated as a grocery store in Wang Thong district. The victim was identified as 44-year-old Ratchada, also known as Mod.
A medical team from Wang Thong Hospital confirmed she died at the scene from her injuries.

The attacker was identified as Wuttipong Nimman, a singer at a well-known restaurant in the province. Police arrested him at the scene and recovered the 30-centimetre knife used in the attack.
Attack Took Place in Front of Witnesses
A neighbour, Juti, witnessed the attack. He told Channel 3 that Ratchada was preparing to leave for the fresh market when Wuttipong approached her.
She tried to flee and sought help from Juti but collapsed in front of him.
Wuttipong caught up with her and continued stabbing her repeatedly in full view of the witness.
Juti shouted at the suspect and pleaded with him to stop. When he tried to intervene, Wuttipong attempted to stab him as well.
The victim suffered more than 30 stab wounds, mostly to her back, with one to her chest. Another neighbour, 55-year-old Mr Chuti, also witnessed the incident after hearing the commotion and rushing to the scene.
Ratchada’s husband and 18-year-old son Ton arrived shortly after the attack. Her husband fainted upon seeing her body. He had spoken with her on the phone earlier that morning, shortly before the incident.
Suspect Cites Relationship and Health Issues
Wuttipong told police he had been in a relationship with Ratchada for more than three years but had only recently discovered she was married. He also said he had been diagnosed with a serious congenital illness, reportedly HIV according to some news outlets.

Other reports suggested he may have been diagnosed with cancer. He claimed he felt desperate and decided to carry out the attack.
He travelled to the store on his motorbike and used a knife to stab the victim multiple times.
Ratchada was both a grocery store owner and a singer in the house band of a local restaurant. Her colleague Kunasorn said they had worked together for over 20 years and described her as kind-hearted and supportive, like a family member to the band.
Kunasorn also stated that Wuttipong was not part of the band and that he had never met him before.
However, Ratchada’s son Ton offered a different account. He said Wuttipong had visited their home several times to borrow money from his mother. Ton did not observe any romantic relationship between them and believed Wuttipong killed his mother after she refused to lend him more money.

Wuttipong was initially charged under Section 288 of the Thai Criminal Code for intentional murder. The offence carries a possible penalty of death, life imprisonment, or imprisonment for 15 to 20 years.
Police said further investigations and additional charges may follow.
