The Amount of Money Avengers: Endgame Cast Earn from Marvel Movies

Avengers: Endgame. Where do I even start?

So on one hand, it has been the most talked-about movie of the last week.

The last year, to be precise.

And then, on the other hand, its box office totals have boggled the most brilliant of minds. Collecting more than $1.3 billion, despite spending less than a week in theatres, it seems well-poised to overtake its predecessor’s own astronomical revenue, to become a serious contender for top-grossing movie of all time.

Avatar? You’re in serious danger.

Yet, this also begets one question. Considering how successful every single Marvel movie has performed in the box office, one can’t help but wonder;

Just how much are the most important aspects of the Marvel universe, the titular characters themselves…

Paid?

Revelation

If you’ve ever wondered that, well, rejoice, for a report has revealed just how much the cast’s biggest stars are being paid.

And who to get the ball rolling, than the real-life personification of Iron Man himself, Tony Stark?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the star of the Iron Man franchise pocketed a cool $75 million from 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War... alone.

Apparently, the massive paycheck was the result of a unique deal Robert Downey Jr had struck with Marvel boss Kevin Feige, that grants the actor “backend” on the Avengers movies. A backend deal, lest you’re unaware, entitles an actor to a percentage of box office grosses.

Kind of like “profit-sharing”.

And considering how Infinity War was such a commercial success, raking in $2,048 billion at the box office, Downey’s reported $75 million suddenly doesn’t seem that hefty anymore.

Additionally, Downey Jr. was also reportedly paid $5 million per day for the three days he was on set to film his parts for 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Now, that’s one cool salary for a day.

And if you’ve watched the movie, you’ll know that he only appears for a while.

For those curious about his salary for Avengers: Endgame, however, sad to say that the details have yet to be released, since the amount the movie’s going to earn is not yet confirmed. But if it’s anything like the ploy he did in Infinity War

Well, let’s just say that he will be a lot richer. Again.

What about the other stars?

If you’re curious about how much Black Widow earns, here’re some figures. For the standalone Black Widow movie, that’s due to come out in 2020 (don’t say anything, don’t say anything…), Scarlette Johansson will be paid a figure in the $20 million range.

Yeah, not too shabby at all.

On the other hand, Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor, signed a five-year deal in the $15 million to $20 million range. And according to The Hollywood Reporter, Captain America actor Chris Evans also earned the same salary range for a five-movie deal.

(Shut up…shut up…)

Bonuses

Workplaces tend to have bonuses (in order to encourage employee performances, and I hope my boss’s reading this), and it seems that Marvel’s no different.

According to THR, Marvel initially paid actor bonuses when a movie crosses $500 million in worldwide grosses, though that figure was later shifted to $700 million. Today, Marvel reportedly pays actor bonuses only when a film reaches $1.5 billion. Though judging by how Endgame has performed so far…

It’s not so much of a possibility, but a question of when.

And with that in mind, I guess the main takeaway from this article’s that you should be a celebrity hero.

Because I’m pretty sure you’ll be handsomely rewarded. 😉

Alright just kidding; there are many heroes in everyday life, ranging from our dear Police officers to our beloved firefighters. And just because they earn way lesser wages…

Doesn’t mean that they are any less than mainstream heroes.

And so, kudos to our hard-working heroes all around the world.

And thank you for protecting us from our own Endgame. 🙂
