Sometime back, my colleague wrote an article on the upcoming 50 Cents Food Festival, an event that’s toted to offer tantalising whole dishes for as low as 50 cents.

Now I bet you’re wondering:

“50 cents? Walao eh, then the dish itself will confirm only be a 50 cents portion la?!”

And in answer, I reply: “Not quite.”

According to my colleague, the 50 Cents Food Festival isn’t just a “multi-sensory experience”, but one that will surely appeal to all the ‘cheapo’ foodies out there.

“It is said to be a ‘multi-sensory experience’ by including Neoclassical and Palladian influenced architecture and neon lights that were popular in amusement parks back then,” she wrote.

“For the price of the food, you would expect the portion to be a little smaller. But don’t fret, that just means you have the opportunity to try even more food! You can even try things that you normally would not try but can now give it a chance because of the low price!”

“In this age of globalisation, it is easy to forget what our roots are and simply reduce it to Nasi Lemak, Chicken rice, Chilli crab and Char Kueh Teow. However, this food fair will acquaint you with some dishes that are actually a part of our heritage.”

Because my colleague spoke so much truth in just three paragraphs, I was inclined to continue her great work with a piece of my own.
