Our last article for Funan talked about some of the new features of the new mall.
And now we are excited AF because of news for Funan’s actual first looks. You can’t really blame us since our 2nd last article was in 2016.
And it’s new name will be called…
Lnugu.
Just kidding. That’s just a reflection, so it will still be called Funan. Though, it appears that the reflection is pretty obvious no matter night or day.
I doubt Capitaland will be happy if we call this Lnugu, but we wouldn’t be surprised if people start calling this mall Lnugu.
A closer look at the Kinetic Wall
According to Capitaland, this is a “multimedia art installation that is a first-of-its-kind in Singapore.”
We’re not exactly sure why it’s so special, but it certainly looks cool AF, and apparently can be programmed to show other animated content.
It looks cool inside too
What you’re supposed to see here is a “Tree of Life”, which in my honest opinion looks nothing like a tree, and I don’t get the naming sense here. In the first place, a technological based placed having weird looking futuristic trees wouldn’t be too far off.
But what is cool is that this is a centre stage of 20 showrooms that people can use to showcase products, conduct classes, or have pop=up events.
Another angle:
Looks totally not like a tree, but a cool concept.
The retail option will be mixed
Most people nowadays just buy wherever they feel like. Sometimes that’s the physical stall sometimes that’s online.
Funan is fitting into that lifestyle change by instead focusing on building interactive communities clustered around passion themes Chic, Craft, Fit, Play, Taste and Tech.
Some brand names thrown as us are W!ld Rice theatre, Golden Village cineplex, TFX fitness centre, Climb Central indoor rock climbing, The Ark futsal facility, ABC Cooking Studio and farm-to-table dining at Japanese restaurant Noka in collaboration with Edible Garden City.
And if you’re disappointed that Funan looks cool but doesn’t feel like the old mall, just think back to how often you actually buy at a physical store. Remember, technology is more often about improving for the future, and not reminiscing the past.
Cycling paths
Another lifestyle change people have is the use of bicycles. Funan will have an indoor cycling path 200 metres long, said to serve working professionals. Though during the operating hours, 10 am to 10 pm, it is encouraged to dismount the bicycles.
The end of the trail leads to a Bicycle Hub, which has shower cabins, lockers, a bicycle repair and pump station. Bicycle counters for cyclists to eat meals while seated on bicycles will be present, as well as 166 bicycle bays.
Food, glorious food
What you’re seeing here is a preview of the 5,000 sq ft Urban Farm operated by Edible Garden City, which is the heart of an 18,000 sq ft Food Garden. The Food Garden will be located at Level 7, which I assume is a glorious space for food.
And oh, all those greens? They are meant to be a variety of edible plants that shoppers can experience, though whether the definition of “experience” includes eating the actual plant remains to be confirmed. At the very least, we can learn how vegetables are produced and harvested here.
Foodies, this also means farm to table dining.
Other hi-tech features previously mentioned like facial recommendations and robots are not in our latest news update.
And if you still haven’t yet, you should really check out the video Capitaland has previously put out for Funan.
Over in TikTok, there’s a drama involving property agents that’s caused by us. Here’s what happened:
