The Rock has spoken.
Rarely do celebrities make their political leanings public with reasons ranging from not influencing their followers to keeping their fan count.
But whichever decision they choose, they will inevitably face a fair amount of backlash; this includes criticisms for Chris Pratt on his political silence and just as much vitriol for Taylor Swift’s decision to talk about Donald Trump.
Oh. K. Um. But his church is infamously anti lgbtq so maybe address that too? https://t.co/meg8m69FeF

The latest in the line of celebrities starting conversations about politics is Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock.
Here’s What He Said
Now, for a start, The Rock has openly endorsed Joe Biden for President:
So it’s no surprise that in his first presidential endorsement, Johnson congratulated the victories of President-elect Joe Biden (who received the most number of votes in presidential history) and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris (the first woman and person of colour to be elected Vice-President).
He cited shedding “manly tears” from the breaking news, jesting that “I may have cried a tear or two or ten.”
Johnson, who has three daughters — Simone, 19, from his first marriage to Dany Garcia, and Jasmine, 5, and Tiana, 2, with his second and current wife, Lauren Hashian — said that his vote represented his little girls.
He said, “My vote represented humanity. My vote represented decency. It represented the values and the principles of which we teach our little girls. My vote also, for me, represented the importance of just being a good, decent human being and how important that is.”
In spite of the joyful celebrations for the wins of the party he was backing, Johnson also reached out to the remaining parties who have lost.
Johnson’s decision to speak up
Johnson also spoke up about his decision to support Joe Biden’s campaign and the ire that it drew from his fans, cited that it sparked a “s***storm”. However, he felt that it was the right call.
He said that “it wasn’t enough for me just to stand on the sidelines and be silent. It certainly wasn’t enough for me to post a picture on Instagram holding a little sticker that says I voted. Not for me, that wasn’t going to cut it. I felt like if I was going to make a real impact in this election, if I was going to move the needle, then I was going to speak from my heart and I was going to be willing to lay it all out on the line. And that’s exactly what I did.”
Mixed comments
Comments then began streaming with a number of mixed opinions:
The Good
Comments included the sharing of support for the Democratic Party, unity content of character required in a president.
The Bad
Others included the talk of voter fraud and Johnson’s betrayal.
“I’m not turning my back on you”
Despite revealing his support for the Democrats, he continued to appeal to the remaining parties who did not come out on top in the recent election.
Johnson proceeded to acknowledge their disappointment in the outcome and said that he will not be turning his back on those with a different opinion from his, and that the work to bring the country together begins now.
My celebration is also with acknowledgement that we also have a country that is completely divided. And I acknowledge the disappointment, I acknowledge the pain. We’ve all been there, we’ve fought for things we believed in with our heart, our passion, our guts and we lose. So It doesnt feel good but I want you to know that I’m still here and I’m not turning my back on you just because we have a difference of opinion, just because you voted for somebody else. No I’m still right here and, I’m still here for you and we still got this relationship and I’m going to make sure I possibly can do to make sure we’re all working together. As a unified front. Unity.
