If you were stuck in indoors, school or the office the whole day yesterday, consider yourself lucky.
It’s always better to be everywhere but outside when it’s raining.
Flash Floods
The rain was so heavy that it actually caused flash floods in some parts of Singapore. In fact, it was so bad that some vehicles were stuck in high waters.
At 1:13 pm, PUB Singapore warned of heavy rain over several areas in Singapore from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.
NEA: Heavy rain expected over many areas of SG from 13:30 hours to 14:30 hours. Issued 13:10 hours. #sgflood
— PUB (@PUBsingapore) June 3, 2019
At 1:15 pm, things began to go downhill. They tweeted that at Tanjong Pagar and Craig Road, the water level rose to above 90% with high flood risk.
A minute later, the water level rose to 100%.
Shortly after, this update came in.
Flash floods at Commonwealth Lane. 2 out of 2 lanes affected. Avoid entering the area. Issued 13:22 hours. #sgflood
— PUB (@PUBsingapore) June 3, 2019
That really went from 0-100 quickly. And literally.
A minute after the Commonwealth Lane update and the update for Craig Road came in. The road had already flooded, and it affected both lanes. PUB also cautioned people from entering the area.
The flood quickly subsided by 1:28 pm, though. That’s actually a relief.
Murky Waters
Many images of the flood began to spread online with many people sharing their experience of being stuck in the flood. The images showed vehicles driving and submerged in murky, brown water like looks like diluted Milo.
Gross.
The car pictured was at Tiong Bahru, near Redhill Market.

Expect More
On 31 May, the Singapore Meteorological Service said that the wet and humid weather will continue for the first 2 weeks of June.
They also added that the rainfall for June would be “above-normal over most parts of Singapore”.
You can also expect thundery showers during the late morning and early afternoons on most days too. This will probably span over six to eight days of June.
There may also be thundery showers and occasional gusty winds in the morning over two to three days due to the Passing Sumatra squalls.

And since it’s raining today, expect another 50 years to have passed in a day.
