Step aside, IKEA with your delectable furniture and curvaceous meatballs;Â you deserve a hard-earned break.Â
Instead, let’s look at the new kid on the furniture block… Boon Liat Building.Â
Located in a nondescript area at Outram Road (with an even more nondescript appearance to match), this is one building you wouldn’t look back over your shoulder at.
In fact, I have a feeling it would’ve been one very appropriate setting for those not-so-appropriate moments in TV dramas.
Here, take a look.
Looks pretty much like an old HDB flat.
But like a wise old man once said, we should never judge a book by its cover. Not unless its title starts with 50 Shades. And indeed… despite its dull and shady exterior…
The building actually houses 37 shops selling furniture & lifestyle products.
Indeed, this particular establishment is not one to be missed, especially if you’re a furniture junkie who collects furniture like pokemon cards. And if you need any more incentive to go in the near future, well how about this?
There’ll be a ‘pasar malam’ this weekend (24 & 25 Nov) with mini markets, pop-up stalls, workshops & exclusive deals!
Excited? Because we definitely are. And so without further ado, let’s check it out.
November Block Party
Happening this weekend, the block party will feature mini markets, pop-up stalls, workshops and sumptuous, exclusive deals. And that’s not all, as four visitors will also stand a chance to win S$250 in cash vouchers!
Simply leave your email address at any shop in the building, and you’re well on your way to a potential S$250 cash voucher sweep!
And as if that’s not enough incentive to pay a visit already, how about some Christmas shopping in advance? With quirky gift ideas, food and other exciting items on sale, Tan Boon Liat might just be your secret Santa this Christmas! (Just a figure of speech. If some guy called Tan Boon Liat shows up at your door at midnight going ‘hohohoho’ do not FREAKING OPEN THE DOOR)
Just check out the lovely sights waiting in store for you!
Can you hear the ‘Hohoho’ already?
Boon Liat Building
Although honestly, I gotta say;
This is one very spectacular building.
With 37 lifestyle stores laid out over 14 storeys, the whole concept of ‘furniture experience’ whatnot just got really pronounced.
Like, check these out.
Is this the National Art Gallery or some nondescript building in the centre, really?
So what are you waiting for?
Whether you’re eager to shop for your new house, or just keen to do some advance Christmas shopping, you can be sure Tan Boon Liat building has got something for you. So remember the dates…
