Brace yourself Singapore – a Hello Kitty theme park will hit our shores on June 10. Instead of being all cute and cuddly, the famous mouthless cat will take on a sci-fi theme and appear as a robot.

The interactive theme park called “Robot Kitty” will be held for 11 days at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. It will feature five interactive gaming and photo taking zones.

Visitors will be given a gaming card and Robot Kitty Gaming Device Figurine upon entering the theme park. They will then embark on a “mission” to complete quests at the different zones to collect points for accessories redemption and to upgrade their figurines. Sounds like the kids will especially enjoy themselves with this activity.

Additionally, other highlights of the theme park include a custom/DIY exhibition, food and beverages, an exclusive merchandise store and many other fringe activities.

Depending on whether you’re a Hello Kitty fan, we expect that you’ll either be camping outside the exhibition hall or avoid Suntec City like an apocalyptic zone. You can also start betting on how long you will need to queue before you get to enter the theme park.

This is the very first time that Robot Kitty is appearing in Southeast Asia. Given our track record of forming insanely long queues for anything Hello Kitty, Singaporeans have probably proven ourselves worthy of some kitty love to the organisers. Other countries that the theme park had successfully appeared in include Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and Shanghai. Outside of Japan, the event was especially successful in Taiwan thanks to the strong influence of Japan’s “cute culture” in the country.

Robot Kitty is organised by the Mighty Eight group which brought the carnival Hello Kitty Go Around to Sentosa’s Coliseum last October. They were also the group behind the Hello Kitty Run at The Float@Marina Bay last December.
