Yes, my dear Bukit Timah residents, the headline’s 100% true.
No more scooting all the way to Clementi or Jurong East just for some big screen entertainment.
You’ve suffered enough, and we totally understand that.
Therefore, rejoice, as we present this piece of news to you guys with the utmost glee…
A new cinema is gonna open in the Bukit Timah Road area in early December!
And what’s more, this particular cinema…
Will be pretty darn atas.
EagleWings Cinematics
Located in the King Albert Park Residences Mall, EagleWings Cinematics will feature two halls with premium seats and two halls with standard seats.
Incidentally, KAP Residences Mall is situated at 9, King Albert Park.
Run by retail and lifestyle company EagleWings Group, the cinema is an independent operation and is not a branch of one of Singapore’s major multiplex chains, like Golden Village, Shaw Organisation or Cathay Cineplexes.
If you don’t know where it is, it used to be the place that housed one of the most iconic McDonald’s in the history the universe:
Yes, we’re talking about that King Albert Park that’s a stone’s throw away from NP and SIM.
Atas Seats
According to Straits Times, the standard halls will have 60 and 63 seats each respectively, while the premium halls will have 12 and 18 each respectively.
The premium halls’ lounge area will come with massage chairs, soft-drink vending machines that allow customers to opt from over 50 flavours, as well as food from the EagleWings Loft cafe in the mall.
Ticket prices have yet to be decided, but the cinema will be screening major releases shown in other mainstream complexes.
In other words, despite it being an indie cinema, it’s not going to show those arty-farty movies that only arty-farty people would understand.
Say No To Cookie Cutters
In a press statement, Dr Julian Theng, founder and medical director of Eagle Eye Centre and founder of the EagleWings group, expressed that his firm was keen to avoid the “cookie-cutter mall concept”. As a result, they made it a point to stay away from the usual fast-food and supermarket anchor tenant ideas.
Ultimately, they went ahead with a cinema that arguably takes the whole movie-watching experience to the next level, with “luxurious lounges, plush seats and gourmet snacks”.
KAP Residences Mall
And because I need to fulfil my word quota, here’s an unapologetic extension of KAP Residences Mall that I’m pretty sure no one wants to read about.
But here it is anyway.
As it is, the refurbished KAP Residences Mall will incorporate other shopping, entertainment, healthcare and food operations run by the EagleWings Group, thereby making it the largest tenant.
The group’s other outlets also include CAMACA, a health-oriented cafe and Jomachi, a fashion store. They are all scheduled to open in early December.
UPCOMING MOVIES
And since we’re on the topic, I’m just gonna throw out some blockbuster flicks that are scheduled to air pretty soon.
So prepare your money, because you’re probably gonna want to spend it on some tickets and popcorn.
