I’m sure that most of us girls have faced this situation before. We spend all morning dolling ourselves up and making our makeup look perfect, finishing it off with a cute pop of colour. And then we meet our friends, eat lunch, drink coffee and when you head to the toilet, you realise that nothing is left on your lips. Maybe aside from coffee stain, but the cute lip colour that you put on that morning is practically non existent.

Well, we feel your pain, and we’re here to let you in on a instant hack that we promise will make your lipstick last all day. But before we get to the hack, you got to prepare your lips first.

Before you put on your lipstick, make sure that your lips are not chapped and dry. If you’re putting your lip colour on dry lip conditions, you’re setting yourself up for a lip failure. The number one reason as to why your lipstick will smudge and bleed is because the lips are dehydrated. So the moment you put on a hydrating lip formula, your lips will absorb the moisture from it, causing it to bleed.

It’s simple, exfoliate your lips before applying any lip product, whether by a sugar scrub or simply by brushing your lips gently with a toothbrush. Immediately apply a lip balm after to hydrate your lips. Let it seep into your lips for 5-10 minutes before blotting it off with a tissue paper. In order to save time, you can do this step before applying any makeup on your face. So when you’re done doing your makeup, your lips will be fully prepped to slick on any gorgeous colour.

Once your lips are in good condition, line your lips with a lip liner. Fill in the rest of your lips with the same lip liner. This acts as a base for your lipstick and it works miracles in prolonging the life of your lipstick.

If you’re looking to make your lipstick last all day, we suggest choosing a matte lipstick instead of a creamy or sheer one. Matte lipsticks tend to transfer less and last much longer than others.

And here is where the hack comes in: set your lipstick with translucent powder. Sounds easy, but trust us, it will make your lipstick last literally all day.

Apply the lipstick to your lips, then dust it with translucent powder using a powder brush. Reapply your lipstick over the translucent powder. The translucent powder will help to set your lipstick and prevent it from smudging throughout the day.

Well, you’re all set to head off to your date with that gorgeous guy now!
