We are not sure about the extent of animal rights in Singapore, but this is definitely a huge no-no. Why would anyone threaten a cat in such a manner?
But apparently, some people in the world would do this. For what, you may ask?
Well, a man from Kanchanaburi, Thailand, did it just to get his girlfriend’s attention. His girlfriend is from Bangkok and had left her three cats at his car workshop because her apartment didn’t allow pets.
She wasn’t picking up his calls at that point of time and it was for a damn good reason – he was reportedly abusing her physically. So what would be the next logical course of action? To him, it was to strangle her cats and get her to respond.
It appears that since the abused victim wasn’t around, he turned to her cats instead as a substitute. This is simply outrageous, and even a non animal-lover would find himself raging at this guy.
It’s unclear as to whether the couple is still together. However, since the animal organization Watchdog Thailand is now helping the cat’s owner to take legal action against her (ex-)boyfriend, we guess not (and good riddance too!).
If you are wondering whether the poor cats are safe, you will be relieved to know that local volunteers have rescued them from the clutches of the boyfriend and the cats are now in the custody of the Kanchanaburi police until the woman travels down from Bangkok to collect them.
