We’re still pretty far off from Chinese New Year, but we may have a local God of Fortune in our midst.
But instead of doling out cash in pretty red packets, this God of Fortune on TikTok has taken to hiding the cash in various locations around Singapore for people to chance upon, akin to something of a treasure hunt.
However, whether or not this TikToker has actually been leaving cash lying around for people to find or just using this to gain traction for his social media presence remains to be seen.
TikToker Uploads A Video Claiming to Have Hidden S$1,000 Near An MRT Station in S’pore
TikToker @seathebreezee uploaded a video to the social media platform claiming that he had hidden S$1,000 behind an MRT station in Singapore.
@seathebreezeeIf you find it duet/stitch me! good luck 😉 ##daydoneright ##tiktoksg ##foryou ##tiktoksingapore ##singapore
The exact location of the MRT station was not revealed, but the surroundings have been speculated to be near Pasir Ris MRT.
In the video, he was seen holding a folded stack of S$50 notes and putting it on the ground behind some bushes.
He mentioned in the video that he would return to the location in three days to see if the money was found by anyone.
@seathebreezee$2 in return. Bad investment, kidding, enjoy! ##daydoneright ##tiktoksg ##foryou ##tiktoksingapore ##singapore♬ original sound – Lukemon
After around three days, he uploaded another TikTok claiming that someone had actually taken the S$1,000 and left S$2 behind in its place.
He also asked, “Where should I do next?”
On 20 June, the same TikToker had uploaded a video claiming to have hidden $1,000 near a certain bus interchange in Singapore.
The location was identified as Tampines bus interchange, and according to Shin Min Daily News, the news outlet had seen at least seven people looking for the cash in the area.
The Chinese news outlet shared several photos of people crouched by the grass and flashing lights into the bushes to see in between them more clearly.
Some people had allegedly spent up to three hours searching for the cash, but their search was not fruitful.
Ultimately, it is not clear whether or not the content creator had actually left S$1,000 in these locations for people to find.
People have suggested that he might simply be making such videos for clout.
After all, people on TikTok have been known to get up to all sorts of ridiculous antics, like trying to turn the social media platform into a lost and found corner by fishing for their eye candy.
